1: Breakfast meetings
It was discussed and agreed that a regular monthly meet up will be held every second Sunday in the month from February to November at alternating venues, followed by a ride out. These will be “Official” chapter rides and as such a collection will be taken. As we are scattered across the North West it is only fair that the venue moves to allow our brethren a fair chance to get together.
We are open to suggestions for other suitable venues. First three are detailed below; –
11am Sunday 10th February: Velo Café, Twin Lakes, Croston, Lancashire, PR26 9RF
11am Sunday 10th March: Millennium Motorcycles, Thatto Heath, St Helens, WA9 5PE
11am Sunday 14th April: East Lancashire venue TBC (possibly Winfield’s, Haslingdon)
December will be kept free for a Christmas lunch and January will a senior officers planning meeting.
2: 897 Lodge of Loyalty
Meetings have now moved to the first Saturday morning in March, May, June and September with the installation meeting this year being on Saturday 2nd November 4.30pm tyle. Official rides will take place after each of the meetings (excluding November).
First meeting and ride: Saturday 2nd March St Helens Masonic Hall for breakfast and Masonic meeting and then ride to the Masonic Church in Rochdale.
*Note; for those NWC members who are not members of 897, you will be very welcome at the meeting however it is not compulsory for you to attend; you can join in for the ride afterwards.
3: 1380 The Bikers Chapter (formerly Skelmersdale Waterloo)
Meetings are the third Saturday in May and September followed by an Official ride out.
First meeting and ride: Saturday 18th May, Bryn Masonic Hall for breakfast, Royal Arch meeting and then ride (destination TBC).
*Note, for those NWC members who are not members of 1380 and ARE Royal Arch Masons, you will be very welcome at the meeting but it is not compulsory for you to attend; If you are not an RA Mason you are welcome to join us for breakfast and the ride out.
4: NWC supporting local events
Mrs Helen Baxendale has asked if members of the chapter would be available on the afternoon of Friday 8th March to attend Highfield St Mathews School (near Pemberton) on their Motorbikes to take part in a reading day event (world book day is 7th March). We have participated in a similar event at Helen’s previous school in Whiston two years ago and have agreed to support this one. Volunteers required please.
The PTFA of Highfield St Mathews School has also asked (via Helen and Andy) if the chapter would be willing to sponsor a Friendship Station at the school, this is to support inclusion and anti-bullying within the school community. Our Treasurer Bill confirmed the bank account balance was very healthy. Our Vice Pres Rab proposed a donation of £200 be given, this was seconded by me (Iain) Vice Pres and Secretary, and all officers present were in agreement. Bill will ensure the donation is presented accordingly.
WBro Ian Green approached the chapter back in September 2018 about supporting the Wigan group festival on Saturday 6th July. The Wigan provincial trailer will be in the town center and our presence has been requested. We would be grateful if one of the Blood Bikers amongst us could bring a Blood bike along.
5: Fireball Run (Reloaded…).
Yes is back! June 21st -23rd Fleetwood to Whitby:
Note. The OFFICIAL start and end points are FLEETWOOD and WHITBY.
6: Birthday Bash and Presidents Night.
Birthday Bash will be the weekend of 30th August to 1st September, venue TBC.
Presidents Night will be on Saturday 9th November, venue TBC (potentially at the North Euston Hotel, Fleetwood).
7: Events and other rides.
Please see events list.
8: AOB.
I. The President requested that the Road Captains and Road Marshalls start working on rides, routes and destinations.
II. The regular meet up at Park Road Café in St Helens on alternate Wednesday evenings will once again be a welcome spring\summer evening ride for those who can make it. Guy’s Thatched Hamlet (Owd Nell’s) on the A6 at Bilsborrow north of Preston has been suggested as an alternative meeting place, this will also give the chapter the opportunity to meet up with members of Mount Motorcycle Lodge who are based at Fleetwood.
With no other business the meeting was closed at 1.05pm
